USDA Hurricane Relief
Along with relief announced by the IRS, in the form of postponed tax deadlines for those in disaster areas following Helene and Milton, separate relief programs have been announced by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). We have provided links below for farmers and timber growers to access some of these programs:
- The main USDA website for these programs is https://www.farmers.gov/protection-recovery/hurricane#assistance
- For clients with damaged timberlands, the Emergency Forest Restoration Program may help with clean-up and replanting costs: https://www.fsa.usda.gov/programs-and-services/disaster-assistance-program/emergency-forest-restoration/index
- For clients with damaged pecan orchards, the Tree Assistance Program is the place to start: https://www.fsa.usda.gov/programs-and-services/disaster-assistance-program/tree-assistance-program
- Clients should begin by visiting their county FSA office. Sign-up for at least one of the programs began yesterday so it is important for clients to visit their county FSA offices as soon as possible.
