New Executive Order Allows for Remote Notarization and Witnessing

ABD & EAD - Desk

By Alaina Davalos, Esq.

As we continue dealing with the many restrictions imposed upon us by COVID-19, we welcome new Executive Order, 04.14.20.01, signed by Governor Brian Kemp on April 9th.

This new order promises to alleviate some of the stress and uncertainty by authorizing the remote notarization and witnessing of Wills, Trusts, GA Advance Directives for Healthcare, and Financial Powers of Attorney via the use of audio-video communication technology or any similar real-time means of electronic video conferencing such as FaceTime, Skype, and Zoom.

With this new action, Georgians are now able to remotely execute outstanding estate planning documents without having to wait for shelter-in-place orders to be lifted. At Hoffman & Associates we are prepared and ready to remotely provide you with notary and witness services to execute your documents.

If you need to execute estate planning documents, or are in need of any other estate planning service, please contact our office at (404) 255-7400 or info@hoffmanestatelaw.com.  It is important that you set up a remote signing appointment while this Order remains in effect. And remember – estate planning documents are not effective until they have been properly executed.
