Supporting Hurricane Helene Relief and Recovery
The following organizations have been vetted for IRS compliance and their EIN numbers have been included for ease of reference.
Relief Funds
- Center for Disaster Philanthropy (CDP) (EIN: 45-5257937) created the Atlantic Hurricane Season Recovery fund, which provides resources to community organizations that address medium and long-term recovery needs.
- Community Foundation of Western North Carolina Emergency and Disaster Response Fund (EIN: 56-1223384) Supports Western North Carolina Disaster Response fund to provide a perpetual source of relief for victims of disasters as they occur in perpetuity.
National Humanitarian Aid Organizations
- American Red Cross (EIN: 53-0196605) organizes disaster relief efforts through specialty response vehicles, shelter and medical supplies, and ready-to-eat meals. Relief Efforts.
- Direct Relief (EIN: 95-1831116) works with local healthcare providers and emergency response agencies to provide medication, supplies, and necessary care.
- National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (EIN: 52-1830327) an association of organizations that mitigate and alleviate the impact of disasters, provides a forum promoting cooperation, communication, coordination and collaboration; and fosters more effective delivery of services to communities affected by disaster.
Local Organizations
- United Way of Asheville (EIN: 56-0576157) supporting residents’ immediate and long-term needs following the hurricane. Working with the Buncombe County Government and their Emergency Operations Center to support volunteer mobilization and to ensure that NC 211 has the most up-to-date resources for callers seeking information and assistance. They are also the fiscal agent for Governor Roy Cooper’s State Relief Fund.
