The 2019 Federal and Georgia due date for Individual, Trust & Estate, Corporation and Other Non-Corporate Filer tax returns has been extended from April 15th, 2020 to July 15th, 2020!

Update

On Friday March 21, 2020 at the direction of the President, Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin announced that U.S. taxpayers have a 3-month extension to file their taxes because of the current pandemic. “All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties,” Mnuchin stated.

The IRS issued a release (Notice 2020-18) on March 21, 2020, deferring everything to July 15, 2020 and stating that taxpayers do not need to file anything on April 15, 2020.  It dropped its earlier announcement (Notice 2020-17) requiring that you either file an extension or file your return by April 15, 2020.  All taxpayers (including individuals, trusts and estates, corporations and all other non-corporate filers) are now automatically extended until July 15, 2020 at which time they can file an extension on the appropriate form for their tax status.

On March 23, 2020, Governor Kemp announced that Georgia will also extend its filing deadline to July 15, 2020.
