For our clients and others living in Colquitt County Georgia, the following is an important notice from the IRS concerning casualty losses incurred in the recent disaster.

Federal Tax Day – Current, I.4, FEMA Disaster Area Amendment: Georgia, (Mar. 24, 2017)

A January 26, 2017 notice (FEMA-4297-DR) in which the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that the president determined that certain areas in Georgia were eligible for assistance from the federal government under the Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 USC 5121), has been amended. Accordingly, taxpayers in the following county who sustained losses attributable to the disaster may deduct the losses on their 2017 or 2016 federal income tax returns: Colquitt.
